I had to put the spacer back in mine as it ran much better with it. (96) Each bike is a stacking of tolerances and some are already jetted corectly as is. Oil leak seems to be what programmers would call a feature (bug) rather than an acknowledged problem by Suzuki. When I finally get around to fixing mine, I am considering a flat washer on each side of the plug with a small(4mm) bolt through the plug keeping it expanded. I rarely have to add oil between changes so it hardly seems worth the hassle other than the old time bike look on the head and cylinder. Forks seals require the forks be removed (usually one at a time) and the fork disassembled, the seals replaced, correct amount and viscosity of oil added back in. Mine weep a little and I expect to have to add some oil at the 15k miles service. You will need a good way to support the bike fairly high off the ground for this operation. Both items have lots of dicussion earlier on the forum, some may have been lost with the change.
